A classically-trained multi-instrumentalist, Emily Maguire is truly “a talent to be reckoned with” (R2 Magazine), her strong, thought-provoking lyrics, supremely expressive vocals and stunning live performances winning her fans across the globe.

Living for four years in a shack on a farm in Australia where she made goats cheese to finance her first two albums, Emily returned to the UK in 2007 and toured extensively with some of the world’s great singer-songwriters, including Eric Bibb and American legend Don McLean. Her third album, Believer, released in 2009, received regular airplay on Radio 2 and won rave reviews in the music press, Maverick Magazine hailing it “a masterpiece”.

Emily’s much-anticipated fourth album, Bird Inside A Cage, followed in 2013. With its release funded entirely by her fans, Bird Inside A Cage was a bold departure from her previous recordings, while still retaining all the underlying trademarks of her emotive, lyric-rich songs.

As an advocate for mental health, Emily speaks frequently in the media about combating the stigma of mental illness. She has been featured several times on Radio 4 including Woman’s Hour, Loose Ends and Midweek, where she was interviewed by Libby Purves talking about her book Start Over Again.

After 2 years out of action, Emily is now back with a new book Notes From The North Pole and a new album, A Bit of Blue, produced by Nigel Butler, which follows a dark time in her life and is a hauntingly beautiful testament to the human spirit.

Book now for an evening of remarkable music.

The Hawth’s Brass Season welcomes one of the finest bands in the country offering a magnificent afternoon’s entertainment on Sunday 11th February at 3.00pm.

In the year 1900, when a small village named Elworth in Sandbach, Cheshire wanted a brass band to celebrate the relief of Mafeking in the Boer War, Foden’s Band was born. The band was then adopted by Edwin Foden, a local industrialist (from whom they took their name) at the Foden’s Motorworks.

From these humble beginnings few would have thought that this band would go on to win twelve British Open titles, thirteen National Championships of Great Britain and an unparalleled double hat-trick there in 1932, ’33 and ’34 and in 1936, ’37 and ’38. The band currently holds the record for area contest wins with an unprecedented 18 North West area titles.

Around the world Foden’s Band is a trademark that musicians associate with inestimable class and musicianship. This fact is reflected in the wide variety of countries that the band has toured; Italy, Switzerland, America, Ireland, France, Norway, Finland and Israel to name but a few.

Most recently the band have cemented themselves as one of the leading Brass Bands in the world winning a rare and exceptional “Double”, being crowned 2012 British Open champions and the 2012 National Champions of Great Britain. In doing so the band defeated the very best bands in Britain at the world’s two most prestigious competitions. As well as being very successful on the contest front the band have also won numerous awards for various CD releases and regularly appear on BBC TV and Radio.

Tickets priced £12.75 (discounts: £11.25) are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 and

When Inspector Tanner is called in to investigate a ruthless murder at Mark’s Priory, the grand ancestral home of the Lebanon family, he quickly discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. The household is controlled by the family physician, the footmen behave more like guests than servants and the secretary Isla is afraid for her life. As Tanner moves closer to the heart of the mystery he uncovers a shocking and closely guarded secret…

GRAY O’BRIEN is best known to TV audiences for his portrayal of the villainous businessman Tony Gordon in ITV’s Coronation Street and as Dr. Richard McCaig on the BBC medical drama Casualty. Most recently he starred in ITV crime drama The Loch. Other notable roles include Peak Practice, Taggart and the 2006 film The Queen.

With a career spanning more than 40 years across film, radio and stage, RULA LENSKA is one of Britain’s best-loved actresses. CHARLIE CLEMENTS captured the nation’s heart as Bradley Branning in EastEnders, a role that won him many soap and television awards, including Most Popular Newcomer at the National Television Awards and Best Soap Actor at the TV Quick Awards. Charlie’s dramatic exit from the soap came in the 25th Anniversary Live Episode.

Joining them is PHILIP LOWRIE, best known for playing one of the original characters, Dennis Tanner in Coronation Street, a role he played since the shows inception in 1960 until 1968, and again in 2011 until 2014. He also appeared in the television series War & Peace, Rules of Engagement and Home Fires.

Completing the line-up is West End leading man GLENN CARTER. Carter has appeared in some of the biggest West End musicals such as Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Whistle Down the Wind, Grease and Les Miserables, as well as playing Tommy DeVito in the London premiere of Jersey Boys. His most memorable portrayal is perhaps as Jesus in the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber classic Jesus Christ Superstar. He played the role in the West End, on Broadway and in the Film.

The cast is completed by Callum Coates, Owen Oldroyd and Rosie Thomson.

The European Union Chamber Orchestra take to the stage at The Hawth with cello soloist Guy Johnston on Sunday 18th February as part of the Classical Season. They will perform Handel’s Water Music, Haydn’s Cello Concerto No.1 in C as well as Two Aquarelles (Watercolours) by Delius and Mozart’s Symphony No.29.

Handel’s Water Music helped establish his reputation in London, and it has remained a firm favourite for nearly 300 years. The attractive masterpieces by Haydn and Delius precede one of Mozart’s most beautiful and lyrical compositions.

The European Union Chamber Orchestra (EUCO) gave its first concerts in 1981 and quickly gained an international reputation as a musical ambassador for the European Union. Funding from the European Commission enabled EUCO to make its name familiar worldwide with tours to East Asia, Thailand and Indochina, North, South and Central America, North Africa, India and the Middle East as well as across Europe.

It regularly performs in major concert halls throughout the UK and has broadcast several times live on BBC Radio 3. Recent highlights included the Bath Festival with Alison Balsom and a tour of Christmas concertos with Nicola Benedetti. Since 2014 the orchestra’s schedule has included tours of Spain, Germany, Luxemburg, Turkey, Malta and Egypt alongside regular education work in the UK and CD recordings.

The LYNNeS are Canadian heartbreak poets Lynn Miles and Lynne Hanson. The two songwriters are not new to working together, having toured and written songs off and on over the past 10 years, and with Miles having produced two of Hanson’s albums (River of Sand, 2014 and 7 Deadly Spins, 2015).

Lynn Miles is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. With 14 albums to her credit, the winner of multiple Canadian Folk Music awards (2011 English Songwriter of the Year), and a 2003 Juno award for Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year, she creates music with unbridled feeling and vulnerability.

Lynne Hanson mixes gritty ballads with driving blues-tinged roots rock. She’s released 6 albums, and toured widely with her band The Good Intentions as well as in support of Grammy-nominated songwriters (Gretchen Peters and Steve Forbert) and Albert Lee. Her sound is born honestly through a lifetime of experience and influence, expressed through the rock, blues and roots that bleeds from her very being.

Fusing tight vocal harmonies with hauntingly gritty lyrics and humour. The two witty songwriters play off each other live, and have been known to leave the audience in stitches with their between-song-banter.

The LYNNeS are two very strong women with something significant to say. And we think you’re going to want to have a listen!

Tickets priced £15 (unreserved) are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 and

The M.M.O.R.P.G Show (Massively Multi Player On-stage Role Play Game… with jokes)

A crowd gathers, no doubt they hear I seek a champion…

From the makers of Knightmare Live comes The M.M.O.R.P.G show (Spirit of the Festival winners VAULT 2016/Outstanding Contribution Winners VAULT 2017), in The Hawth Studio on Tuesday 27th February.

In the world of M.M.O.R.P.G characters get into combat, discussions, negotiations and potential

betrayal. Combining improvised comedy with table-top gaming come along and experience this epic, sprawling, open world, entirely made up, fantasy quest of the audiences own devising. Also included: great jokes about wizards and elves.

The core of the show sees three volunteers take on the roles of a thief, a warrior and a trigger happy trainee wizard who play through one of several narratives. Within the game they make decisions for their characters and attempt actions. Every choice has a consequence, every success decided by a large D20… (20 sided die).

The format is based upon the table top fantasy role play games (Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder) invented in the 70’s and currently enjoying a resurgence. This show is for everyone, people who love games and those who have a penchant for Game of Thrones.

Will you be victorious? Will you bring harmony to the kingdom or will you betray your new friends

for personal glory?

“I very much recommend you seek this out” James McMahon (Kerrang!)

Tickets are priced at £11.50 (cabaret seating) and can be purchased from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 or online at
