Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Furnace Green, Crawley, late on Monday 2nd April in which a 20-year-old local man was knocked unconscious, driven off in a car, assaulted and thrown into a stream.
The victim was walking home along St Leonard’s Drive at 11.45pm when he was struck on the head and bundled into a car by three men who then hit him in the face and drove him a short distance.
He was then pulled from the vehicle – possibly in Rosamund Road, Furnace Green – and dragged down a footpath into woods where he was further assaulted before being dumped in a stream, thought to be Stanford Brook.
The victim was left in the water, but managed to get out and cross a railway line before calling police from Beckford Way. He later needed hospital treatment.
The suspects, all said to be unknown to the victim, were a mixed race man of large build and wearing a hat and black jacket, a white man wearing a black jacket with its hood drawn over his head and a similarly dressed tall black man.
