West Sussex County Council is urging parents who need to apply for a starting school or junior transfer school place for next year to do so online from Monday 5th October.
For children starting secondary/intermediate school, applications opened on 14th September and close 31st October, with places allocated on 1st March 2016.
It is important that parents let the council know their preferred three schools before the deadlines.
For children starting infant, primary and junior schools, applications open on 5th October and close 15th January, with parents finding out which school has been allocated on 18th April 2016.
Places are not allocated automatically and parents of children starting school for the first time will no longer receive a letter from the County Council. It is therefore important parents make a note of the dates and start thinking about their preferences now.
Find out more about the process and apply at www.westsussex.gov.uk/admissions, which includes a new postcode search tool that allows you to find your school catchment area.
Parents and guardians can access the internet for two hours free of charge at libraries and Children and Family Centres if they don’t have the ability to apply at home.
