West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is taking the opportunity to remind all business owners and employers of the importance of rigorous fire safety practices, in advance of UK Business Safety Week 2017.
The week runs from 11th-17th September, with the aim of making sure businesses and their staff have the information they need to prevent, protect and respond to fire incidents in the workplace.
WSFRS will be out and about engaging with local businesses throughout the week, offering advice and assistance to help keep themselves, their employees and their customers safe.
If you’re a business owner or employer and would like more information, or have any queries or concerns about fire safety at your premises, please contact: email@example.com.
Simon Foster, WSFRS Business Engagement & Quality Assurance Manager, comments: “We are asking businesses to ensure they have taken appropriate action to prevent fires in the workplace, protect themselves from arson and make sure all staff know how to respond appropriately in the event of an incident.
“If owners or employers are unsure about their current safety practices, or have any concerns at all, please do get in touch so that we can work with you to lessen fire risks, improve safety, and reduce false alarms.”
UK Business Safety Week has been scheduled to run at a time when many businesses will be recruiting additional members of seasonal staff in the run up to the Christmas period. New recruits may not have the same level of fire safety awareness as permanent members of staff.
