Variety, the Children’s Charity, and award-winning developer Crest Nicholson have today presented one of the charity’s iconic Sunshine Coaches to children at Manor Green Primary School in Crawley, West Sussex.

Manor Green Primary caters for nearly two hundred children aged between two and eleven. Many of the children have learning difficulties, autism, emotional behavioural difficulties and physical disabilities.

Crest Nicholson has a long-standing history with Variety, its chosen corporate charity, and has supported it since 2005. This is the 28th Sunshine Coach that Crest Nicholson have donated to charity, and overall Crest Nicholson has raised an impressive £1.5m for Variety.

We spoke to Andrew Dobson about their amazing 28th mini bus donation and £1.2 million total raised for Variety alone.

The coach will be used every day, allowing the children of Manor Green Primary School to participate in their local community, enjoy swimming, riding and other recreational visits, such as trips to the library and local parks. The award-winning developer has a large local presence around the school, with their community at the Kilnwood Vale development in nearby Faygate.

David Reid, Headteacher, Manor Green Primary School said: “A big thank you Variety, the Children’s Charity, for providing our school with a new mini-bus. As a large special school catering for pupils with a variety of special needs, the bus will be use to extend learning and offer our pupils enhanced experiences. This bus will be an invaluable resource as it gives us the opportunity to offer even more to our pupils and ensure that everyone flourishes and has fun!”

Andrew Dobson, Managing Director of Crest Nicholson Strategic Projects, who presented the coach said: “We’re proud to be long-time supporters of Variety and the vital work that it carries out in communities across the UK. Local people are at the heart of the communities that we build, and this donation will help the students of Manor Green Primary School better enjoy the activities around Kilnwood Vale and the thriving local area. I am pleased to present this coach today and, with plenty more fundraising events and activities planned, look forward to working with Variety and this very worthwhile cause.”
