The Balcombe School PTA has organised the Balcombe Bull Run, a 7km cross country event, for the 5th consecutive year and are supporting St Catherine’s Hospice as its nominated charity.
Taking place on Sunday 18th March, starting at 10.30am, from Balcombe School, it is the perfect event for club, leisure and fun runners aged from 12 upwards.
The Balcombe Bull Run is a hilly and muddy course over the fields and tracks of the Balcombe Estate. The recent weather will make this year’s course more challenging than ever. There won’t be any bulls to contend with, just lovely countryside, maybe the odd flake of snow and a great community atmosphere on and off the course.
The Balcombe Bull Run has chosen St. Catherine’s Hospice as its nominated charity because of the amazing work they do caring for local people affected by cancer. Mat Record, Race Director of the Balcombe Bull Run said “St Catherine’s provide a vital community service. The opportunity to access end of life care is a huge reassurance to many patients and families. I hope we can do our best to raise funds and awareness for them.”
Last year, St Catherine’s cared for more than 2,000 people and their family and friends. Offering practical and emotional support, the hospice’s expert care is free to local people, but with less than a third of its running costs coming from the NHS, St Catherine’s relies on the generosity and support of the local community. By holding the Balcombe Bull Run on 18th March, the money raised is helping make a real difference to terminally ill people in their local community.
