Santa and Scott gave it all they got!

Friday, November 18th, 2011

On Thursday 17th November Santa came to town and bought a special guest with him.

Santa and his guest Scott Maslen (aka Jack Branning of Eastenders) lit up the County Mall when switching on the lights. Over three thousand people packed the County Mall to wait for the switch on, which was delayed for around forty minutes due to Scott being stuck in traffic on the M25. Scott came directly from filming on set. Santa, on the other hand was on time and full of joy. Treating the children to lots of gifts Santa once again put big smiles on all the little faces.

As always, the County Mall were supporting great charities.  The Springboard Project, Age UK and The Army Benevolent Fund.  With a Peter Pan theme in conjunction with the local Hawth Pantomime, there was also lost boy jugglers, tinkerbell and Captain hook characters handing out chocolate to all the good girls and boys.  Mayor Carol Eade and her two wonderful daughters Sharon and Lisa also came in support of the event.

The crowd went mad for Scott and loved all the entertainment from Santa and Chris Oxlade, back for another year playing the wheels of steel and all the favourite Christmas classics with games for special spot prizes and giveaways.

The VIP winners were then invited to the management suite to meet Scott Maslen on a one to one basis. Scott was more than a gentleman, paying them lots of attention and even speaking to some of their unsuspected family members on mobiles.

We would like to thank everyone who came along….it was a long night in the end but we believe it was worth the wait. Thank you to the staff and management at the County Mall, Scott Maslen for coming to Crawley but most off all, thank you Santa!! See you on the eve of the 25th December….we have been good :-)

Santas run was great fun!

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

On Sunday 21st November hundreds of residents all dressed in Santa outfits to run or walk a mile in aid of raising money for Chestnut Tree House.

“Chestnut Tree House is a home away from home for sick children and their families. A place to spend quality time together, with our care staff on hand to help out when needed.”

Please visit their website here for further information.

Sunday was a wet and cold morning, but that did not deter everyone from coming and taking part. Well done to all involved. The event was attended and officially started by his Worshipful the Mayor Councillor Lee Burke and Lady Mayor Councillor Ali Burke. Even our local MP Henry Smith took part with his adorable two children.

A big well done to Tanith Lee for helping all the Santas with their warm up!

Crawley Happy Times went along to take some pictures and video for you to enjoy. Christmas is definitely here!

John Partridge lit up the County Mall

Friday, November 19th, 2010

John Partridge, aka Christian Clarke in Eastenders came to Crawley to switch the Christmas lights on in the County Mall.

We could not have wished for a better personality to come and start Christmas off in the right direction. John was bubbly, full of fun and smiles and couldn’t do any more for the crowd if he tried. They loved him! John went around the hoards of onlookers and let them all take pictures and gave hugs and kisses. At one point John lifted a little child over the barrier so the proud parents could take a picture.

We were impressed and honoured to meet such a genuinely lovely person. At the after party, which was attended by the 25 County Mall competition winners, John even took time to speak to a lady on the phone to wish her a happy birthday at the request of one of the winners.

Crawley Happy Times were invited down to stand in the ‘press area’. We would like to thank Neil Carter, Nicola Stevens and all the staff at the County Mall. A job well done!
