Crawley comes together for Milly

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

On Sunday 27th March 2011 the sun shone and the people of Crawley came in their hundreds to help raise money for ‘Milly’s Journey’.

Now you may think this is done all the time….but, not organised, promoted, and pulled off in just two weeks! This is not the only event being held to raise funds for Milly. Milly is a five year old who needs proton treatment for a brain tumor. This treatment can only be given in the USA. Today we met Milly for the first time and her courage and happy attitude was touching. Milly was a joy to meet. Milly’s parents Paul and Emma were hands on during the day and never seemed to slow down. This family are a credit to our town. The community showed that by turning up in their hundreds. We believe the total was 946!

It really was a brilliant event with children having fun and adults socialising while enjoying the weather. We will get a list of all the helpers on the day and will let you know. But the real thank you goes to those caring people who came and donated by having a tea or coffee, or buying a plant, guessing the number of sweets, or having one of those yummy cakes 🙂

More to come……

We put together some pictures of the day and a video of interviews by Shelley.
