Crawley MP, Henry Smith, today visited Royal British Legion Industries, who work with G4S, and their Work Programme centre to congratulate staff on their vital role they are performing in the Government’s flagship scheme to help long-term unemployed people into sustainable jobs.
“I congratulate the hard working staff of the town’s Work Programme centre in helping to equip those who have experienced long term unemployment to get back into work.
“Local unemployment has continued to fall to 2.7 percent which shows that this Government is getting people off benefits and back into work. Since the Government came to office in 2010, there are over 1,000 less Crawley residents on out of work benefits, which I think is a record on which the staff of the RBLI Work Programme should be rightly proud of.
“Over the past year the number of workless households across the UK has fallen by 182,000 and overall by 425,000 since the election. Each one of those statistics tells a story about people who will be able to get into work, provide for their family and make something of their lives.”
