Shaina Mack is About To Fight For The Big One

At the age of just thirteen young Shaina Mack looks like any other teenager….but this one packs a punch that has to be seen to believe.

Shaina Mack Winner

Shaina has qualified to enter the Unified World Championships being held in association with the WKA Association in America in September.

Shaina trains four, maybe five times a week at the well known and highly respected Lumpini Martial Arts Academy based in Priestly Way in the industrial estate. Shaina told us her inspiration for joining a martial arts gym came from her Mum and Auntie who were both boxers previously. Shaina is going for the K1 World Title which means she will not only represent Lumpini, she will be representing England!

WKU Ring Sports England (facebook page) posted the picture above of Shaina receiving her win in 2015 and wrote: ‘Like to say well done to Shania Mack representing Team England at this year World Championships in Orlando. Well done

‘Shania won her place at this year’s British Championships in Birmingham. Winning her age group to be crowned British Champion. Next step to be crowned World Champion! Great achievement for this 13yr old.’

We popped down the Lumpini to speak to Shaina and John Jarvis who not only owns the gym but trains Shaina personally. Click play to hear what they said.

Shaina needs your help….it is going to cost a lot of money to get Shaina to America to achieve her dream. This is all self funded and due to her age Shaina is unable to work to raise the funds…this is where you could come in and help. Shaina’s mum, Gemma Marten, set up a JustGiving Page to help with the costs….”I am so proud of Shaina. It would be very sad for Shaina if she missed out. She has worked so very hard to get to where she is today, her dedication is second to none and we really hope she gets to go” said Shaina’a Mum when we asked her how she felt.

If you feel you would like to help and see Shaina’s dream come true and possibly bringing home the win, please donate kindly here. Thank you.

Both Terrace Barbers and the Resezior Pub, Brighton have shown their support for Shaina by placing donation buckets in their businesses. There will be an exhibition match with Gemma (mum) and Shaina on the 10th September at the Holiday Inn, Brighton…more details to follow. There are also several events planned to help raise funds….keep an eye out for them on our Events Calender.
