West Sussex libraries are celebrating World Book Night later this month with a number of exciting events – including a chance to get up close with a best-selling author.
The evening festivities, happening on Monday 23rd April at the Worthing, Chichester and Horsham branches, aim to get people sharing their love of reading. They include:
• Celebrating Charles Dickens at Worthing Library. Watch special adaptations of the writer’s most popular novels from storytelling group, ‘Listen Up’, starting at 7:15pm. Tickets cost just £3 and are available to buy at the branch.
• Handing out free copies of some of the 25 novels being showcased by World Book Night at Chichester Library. Readers can also test their literature knowledge with a quiz. The evening kicks off at 6pm until 9pm.
• Top crime novelist Peter James will be talking about his bestselling series Roy Grace at Horsham Library. Tickets have already sold out.
West Sussex County Council Deputy Leader, Lionel Barnard, who oversees the Library Service, said: “We are very excited to be able to celebrate this international event in our branches.
“There will be something for everyone of all ages – including the chance to meet one of Britain’s most popular authors.
“It is a date not to be missed by any keen bookworm.”
