Volunteers from Crawley have been selected to be courtside assistants for the Sitting Volleyball competition at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
On Sunday 18th December, Chris Yelling, School Games Consultant for Thomas Bennett Community College, took a group of Crawley volunteers to the Young Games Maker Volleyball Trials at London 2012 headquarters.
Here, the volunteers, who have helped support the European Volleyball League matches at K2 Crawley over the past two years, were selected to be courtside assistants for the Sitting Volleyball competition.
Councillor Lenny Walker, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture at Crawley Borough Council said: “This is fantastic news and a great honour for the young volunteers who have been selected; we are very grateful to each and every one of them.
“Volunteering is just one of the ways that people will be able to get involved in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. Keep an eye out for the events taking place across the town as part of Crawley in Motion.”
