Christmas events in Crawley
Do your shopping in Crawley this Christmas, take advantage of our fantastic line-up of events and support your local shops.
Crawley Town Centre Partnership, with the support of Crawley Borough Council, has put on great events in the run-up to Christmas, beginning with a continental market, live music and entertainment and the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights on Thursday November 18.
The festive lights in County Mall will be switched on by a mystery celebrity at 7pm on November 18, while the rest of the town centre’s illuminations will be on from about 4pm.
The French Market will be in Queens Square from 9am-8pm on Thursday November 18 and 9am-6pm on Friday November 19 and Saturday November 20. Live music and entertainment will grace the Bandstand on all three days too.
On Saturday November 27 The Jive Aces will play in the Bandstand from 12 noon-2.30pm.
On Saturday December 4 a church concert will take place in the Bandstand, Queens Square, from 10am-12 noon.
Crawley’s Christmas Farmers’ Market will fill Queens Square with locally-produced festive treats on Sunday December 5 from 10am-4pm. Visitors to the market will also be entertained by live musicians on the Bandstand.
On Monday December 6 the Crawley Millennium Concert Band, Millennium Voices and Friends take centre stage with the Charity Family Christmas Concert at 8pm in County Mall’s food court. Tickets costing £5 each or £15 for a family of four are available on the door. All proceeds go to Crawley Open House.
A Christmas craft market will fill Queens Square on Saturday December 11 from 9am-6pm, along with live music from the Bandstand. This exciting event, now in its second year, features work from many local and UK artists.
Visitors will be able to browse and buy unique quality local crafts while children’s activities include face painting. The event is run by local artist Kirsteen Benson in partnership with Crawley Town Centre Partnership and Crawley Borough Council. For more information visit www.crawleycraftfair.co.uk
A day later, on Sunday December 12, the Christmas Farmers’ Market returns from 10am-4pm, also in Queens Square.
The weekend before Christmas, Saturday December 18 and Sunday December 19, will see Crawley’s Christmas fair in Queen Square.
This includes a free funfair, with a 42ft ferris wheel and children’s rides, alongside other pay attractions. Candy floss and roasted chestnuts could also be on the menu.
There will be live music in Queens Square every weekend from November 20 until December 19.
Councillor Claire Denman, Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, said: “This has been another tough year for traders in the town centre but I hope all of these fantastic events will encourage more people to shop in Crawley this Christmas.
“There is something for everyone over the next seven weeks so come into town, pick up some presents and help your local shops.”
